Success stories from Real Futures

May 26, 2023

Read the stories of some of the inspiring women at Real Futures' Women's Business 2nd Chance Hub!

Felisha Stone

Felisha Stone joined the Hub as to gain her second chance in life. She was keen to try something different and wanted to get into employment to provide for her growing family.

Women’s Business was approached by Wilson Security to host a course for anyone looking to dive into the security industry. Felisha jumped onto this opportunity and undertook the relevant certificates to obtain her security licence.

Since then, Felisha has successfully completed a Certificate 2 in Business Customer Service and a Certificate 2 in Security Operations along with the other relevant courses to obtain her security licence.

While she is waiting for her Security Licence to come through, she has landed a role at Woolworths in Redfern as a concierge. She absolutely loves being back into the workforce and has expressed how grateful she is for the support and encouragement she has received from the Women’s Hub to date!

We are so proud of this super mother of five! We look forward to watching her as she embarks on this new chapter and excited to support her along the way.

Jamela Smith

Jamala has been one of our long-time aspirants at the hub. As a busy mother of 3, a lot of her focus has been on raising her beautiful children.

One of Jamala’s goals was to obtain work in traffic control to help support her growing family. Real Futures# Women’s Business has since hosted a traffic control and white card training course that she attended, and we are proud to announce that Jamala has recently landed a role with Bingo Industries as a traffic control officer.

We are super proud of Jamala as she is a quiet achiever. This is only just the start of many great things for her, and we are honoured to walk alongside her into the next chapter of her life.

Jaymie-Lea Thaydie

Jaymie-Lea has been a long-time aspirant at the hub and part of the Real Futures' Women’s Business team for almost 2 years.

She started as an Administration trainee, then transitioned to Administration Officer. During this time, Women’s Business supported Jaymie-Lea to undertake a range of courses such as a Business Certificate lll, Café & Barista Skills, and a Financial Empowerment workshop.

Jaymie-Lea wanted a new challenge and was successful in obtaining a role as an Employment Pathways Coordinator through Baptist Care.

We continue to  support Jaymie-Lea to finish her Certificate lll in Community Services while she’s in this role.
